2012 Personal Goals

January 2, 2012

First: Can you believe that I had school today?!

Now, to round out my 2012 goals posts, I wanted to just write a quick post about my 2012 personal goals. They’re pretty straightforward, so this will be brief!

My two 2012 personal goals are:
1. Begin researching and writing a novel
2. Read at least 15 books.

About the novel: I have a pretty decent idea for a novel I’d like to write. I was actually inspired by a very moving NPR story on the topic, but aside from that story, I really don’t know anything about the subject matter. In order to bring my idea to life, I’ll have to do some pretty intensive research. But I’m very serious about this idea, so I want to spend 2012 doing my research and developing my characters fully, even if the novel doesn’t get finished. I’m really excited about this!

My second personal goal – to read 15 books – is pretty self explanatory. In the past few months I’ve become pretty lazy about reading. Not only do I miss getting lost in a story, but I think that reading more (particularly fiction) will help support my goal of working on my novel. Fifteen books is slightly more than one per month, which I think is very manageable.

So that’s it for my 2012 goals! I can’t wait to dive in!
