Here’s what’s been going on in my financial world for the past two weeks:
– My car required a total of $470 worth of repairs after my very stupid trunk handle incident.
+ I convinced the dealer’s technician to knock off the labor charges for repairing the handle.
+ My principal agreed to reimburse me for a bunch of materials I bought for my classroom.
+ I quit Weight Watchers. I’m going to be trying a different weight loss approach. More on that later.
– I spent $100 on a few new items at Land’s End Canvas.
+ Every item I bought was super-duper on sale. The best deal I got? A solid navy blue bathing suit for $16! Holler!
+ Before placing my order I checked the interwebs for Land’s End coupon codes. I found one that gave me free shipping, so all-in-all I saved $13. Double holler!
+ I’ve been using Swagbucks for all my searching needs since Thanksgiving and recently redeemed some for two $5 Amazon.com gift cards.
+ My Roth IRA has been gaining decent ground recently. It’s encouraging to see my money actually growing, at least for the time being.
– My savings account is looking pretty paltry right now.
+ But I’m getting back $350 from my taxes and my birthday is in two weeks, so I should be able to beef it up pretty soon…barring any other major emergencies
And a couple that are coming up…..
+ My after-school SAT tutoring program is starting soon – this will be a nice extra chunk of $
+ My after school HSA (high school state assessment) tutoring program is starting soon – this will also be a nice extra chunk of $
I like making these lists because, even though I feel like I’ve been bleeding money recently, it looks like more good financial things have happened lately than bad. What a nice rainy day thought 🙂
