Don’t get me wrong, I really like taking time off from school. I’ve never had any guilt about taking breaks from work, and I think that everyone needs a healthy dose of relaxation every now and then. However, I’m now on Day 5 of snow-induced house arrest (well, we’ve moved from my house to T’s house, but I’m still trapped indoors!), and I’m starting to get cranky. The roads are still in pretty bad shape, so really going anywhere – mall, movies, etc. – is kind of dangerous and not very pleasant. To make matters worse, the D.C. area is supposed to get hit with another 10-15 inches between tonight and tomorrow, so who knows when I’ll be back at school. This morning I decided I couldn’t take it anymore, I had to do something to get out of the house – anything at all. So what did I do?
Spent $28 to get a manicure and pedicure.
Ugg, totally not in the budget for this month! Under normal circumstances I definitely would be beating myself up right now over the wasted money, but I think the mani/pedi was worth it because a) the manicurist did an OUTSTANDING job. I really think this is one of the best mani/pedis I’ve ever had and b) I was able to get out of the house for an hour and a half without having to travel too far. While not a very long venture, it was enough of a taste of freedom to tide me over for a few days.
While not one of my personal bad habits when it comes to overspending (normally), I have a feeling a lot of people spend money when they’re bored….do you? What was the last frivilous purchase you made, out of boredom or otherwise?
