Sometimes, you have no choice but to spend money.
If you have no toilet paper, you have to spend money on toilet paper.
If you have no food, you have to spend money on food.
If rent is due, you have to write that rent check.
So sometimes, you don’t have any options: you must spend money.
But most of the time, we do have a choice.
“What to do for dinner…should I stop at Chipotle or just make scrambled eggs?”
“I’m going to a job interview. Should I buy a new blazer or wear the one I have?”
“I need to get in shape. Should I join a gym or start an outdoor running program?”
If you read my post yesterday, you know that I’m trying to get back into frugal habits. I really like specific frugality tips, but ultimately frugality just comes down to making the choice not to spend money when that option is available. And that’s what I think my problem has been recently – I’ve been making the wrong choice.
What have you chosen not to spend money on recently?
