As I mentioned yesterday, I’m going to go back to a system of posting monthly goals. Even though I’m a little late to the game this month, this is what I want to work before September:
1. Pay $1100 towards my car loan
This will actually happen on September 2, but I need to put it in the budget now; September is a 3-paycheck month for me, but because of the way I budget that first check will actually be the “extra” one. It’s starting to look a little unrealistic that I’ll get the car loan paid off before the end of the year, even with this big payment. This is a discussion for another post….
2. Get Freedom Fund back up to $1000
To put it simply, I have *sucked* at keeping my Freedom Fund fully funded recently. I’ve been using it for non-emergencies and this needs to stop! I’ll have extra money on my next paycheck that I will put into it to get it up to an even $1000.
3. Stick to $200 clothing budget for back-to-school
Again, I’m going to have extra money coming on my next paycheck and I really need some wardrobe updates. I want to use $200 on some new clothes. Yes, I could be putting this money towards my car. No, that’s not what I’m going to do with it. I’m over it.
4. Stick to $75 budget for classroom materials
I’m moving to a new classroom this year and I definitely need some new materials. These will be tax-deductible expenses, but I still need to stick to a firm budget.
5. Look into counseling/therapy
I’ve come to the conclusion that I am a little lost in some areas of my life right now and may need professional help. Quarter life crisis perhaps. I’m going to look into what my insurance covers and possibly meet with a counselor. Possibly. I’m not crazy about the idea of this, though.
6. Purchase two Christmas gifts
This year, I’m going to try to buy a few Christmas gifts every month so that I don’t have to shell out a ton of money in December. We’ll see how it goes.
7. Go back through closet to find more clothes to donate/sell
I’ve gone through my closet several times in the past couple months but I still think there’s more to purge. I need to get ruthless; if I haven’t worn it in a year, it’s gone!
8. Go back through pile of clothes to be donated to figure out what can be sold
I have a huge bag of clothes by my that I had planned on donating; I’m still going to donate about 75%, but a Plato’s Closet just opened by my parents’ new house. If there’s anything in the pile that can be sold, I want to try to make few bucks off of my wardrobe cast-offs.
9. Lose 5 lbs.
This is a bit of a reach. But I think I can do it. Honestly, I’ll be happy if I can get my weight below 150 lbs.
10. Exercise at least two times each week
This is really unbelievable, but I’ve actually been doing really well with exercise recently. And what’s more is that I’m enjoying it. I want to keep it up.
Yikes, this list looks a little long! But most of these can be accomplished in one hour or less. Wish me luck!
