In order to accomplish my 2010 goal of adding $4000 to my Freedom Fund, I’m going to set some benchmarks or mini-goals for the rest of the year to be sure I’m staying on-track. Since there are certain times of year that my income is significantly higher than at other times during the year (because of tutoring, summer school, etc.), the benchmarks aren’t based on a certain number of months having passed, but rather the times during the year when I expect money to be rolling in. So here’s what I’m looking at:
– By June 1, 2010, I’d like my Freedom Fund to be at $2000
– By August 30, 2010, I’d like my Freedom Fund to be at $4000
– By December 30, 2010, I’d like to be at my annual goal of $5000
Assuming I get a summer school position (never a guarantee) this should be very do-able. Also, when my raise kicks in in February, I’m going to start contributing $200 per month to my Roth, which should actually put me well over my goal of $2000 by the end of the year. Perhaps I’ll have to readjust that goal to make it a little more of a challenge.
Have a great long weekend!
